Trivia

  • This is one of the only two episodes in the first season of the television series that Lumpy does not appear in, the other episode being Easy For You to Sleigh. Pop, Cub, Lifty, and Shifty also appear in that episode.
    • Additionally, Lumpy is the only one of the four primary characters who doesn't appear in this segment.
  • Pop is responsible for every death in this episode.
  • This is one of the few episodes in which one of the characters (Cub) suffer throughout most of the episode.
  • Nobody dies until 5 minutes into the episode.
  • Lifty and Shifty carrying a wagon of meat might be a reference to the episode Meat Me for Lunch, in which the duo steals a bundle of meat from a butcher shop.
  • This is the first TV episode in which a female (Flaky) dies first.
  • This is one of five episodes where a thought bubble is used. The other four are Crazy Ant-ics, Doggone It, As You Wish, and Can't Stop Coffin.

    Smells like hot dog!

  • This marks the first time Pop kills other characters than Cub.
  • This is Pop and Cub's most famous episode, and the only one so far that mainly focuses on both of them at the same time in the TV series.
    • This is also Cub's only TV starring episode to actually focus on him throughout. In Doggone It, he and Pop are only around for the beginning and in A Hole Lotta Love, he only appears in the beginning and end.
  • It is unknown why Pop tried to avoid hitting Lifty and Shifty with his car, but made no effort in attempting to avoid hitting Cuddles.
  • This marks the first TV absence of Lumpy, Handy, Petunia, Sniffles, Nutty, and Russell.
  • When Giggles is killed, one of her hands gets dismembered from her body, and it falls to the ground with a flower in its grasp.

Cultural References

  • The title of this episode is part of the saying "everything but the kitchen sink," which means to find many items, but most of them are not necessary to use.
  • The meaning of the moral "Don't throw the baby out with the bath water" means to not throw something valuable (Cub) away with something that is undesirable (dirty bath water).

Production Notes

  • When this episode was uploaded on Youtube along with The Wrong Side of the Tracks and From Hero to Eternity, the alternate title for the conglomeration of segments was "One Foot in the Grave". Cuddles, Giggles, Flaky, Lifty, and Shifty appear in all three of these episodes. Cuddles, Giggles (Debatable), Lifty, and Shifty die in all three, while Flaky dies twice.
