Trivia[]
- This is the last episode of the Third Strike DVD.
- This is one of the few episodes where the moral has anything to do with the episode.
- This is one of the few episodes where a character survives briefly after having their vital organs removed from their body.
- This is one of the four episodes so far in which Disco Bear's theme song can be heard. The others are Blind Date, Ski Ya, Wouldn't Wanna Be Ya!, and Stayin' Alive.
- This is one of the few episodes where Pop is missing his pipe for the entirety of the episode.
- This is one of the five episodes to not have a closing iris at the end (the other four being Idol Curiosity, Happy Trails Pt. 1, Treasure Those Idol Moments, and Double Whammy Part I).
- The birds that fell from the trees could have died because of the idol or a joke regarding Petunia's skunk-like qualities.
- Cub's scream was reused from It's a Snap and is reused again in Class Act and Stealing the Spotlight.
- This is one of the few episodes to have a characters corpse resemble an apple. The other times are with Cuddles in A Hole Lotta Love, Nutty in Party Animal, and Mime in Brake the Cycle.
- This is the first and only episode to have Petunia kill as a starring character.
- This is one of the ten Season 2 episodes that don't have a quick shot moment, the others being Out of Sight, Out of Mime, Happy Trails Pt. 2: Jumping the Shark, Better Off Bread, Water Way to Go, The Way You Make Me Wheel, Stealing the Spotlight, Ski Ya, Wouldn't Wanna Be Ya!, and Suck It Up.
- This is the first episode to not have a Mondo Media watermark in the bottom-right corner.
- This is the first episode where Petunia kills someone (albeit indirectly). Her kills are ironic, however, because her first kill (Cub) has the same voice actress as her, and her second kill (Disco Bear) is simply someone she is not fond of. However, she does not seem to witness either dying. Her kills (which are both bears) might also have something to do with the teddy bear she dropped when she swapped it with the Idol.
- In the original airing of Hello Dolly on Happy Tree Friends and Friends at television network G4, in addition to Cub, Petunia, and Disco Bear, there is a character listed as a starring character named Rocky. This character is not seen in the actual episode and was implemented as a joke.
- The former YouTube thumbnail spoiled Petunia's injury before death.
- Disco Bear's pants can be heard ripping when he does the splits.
- As Petunia settles into bed, she makes the same sound she makes at the beginning of Eyes Cold Lemonade.
- The way Petunia screams after she sees that her heart has been forced out of her body by a mattress spring is the same way Giggles screams in Snow What? That's What! when she notices Cro-Marmot sliding down the hill, the only difference being that Petunia's is lower in pitch.
Cultural References[]
- The episode is named after the 1964 musical Hello, Dolly!.
- The moral means that the attractive external appearance of something is not a reliable indication of its true nature.
- Petunia's death is similar to that of Jade's death in Mortal Kombat 9.
Superlatives[]
- Petunia's death is similar to Flaky's injury before death in Take Your Seat, Giggles's death in Every Litter Bit Hurts, and Nutty's death in The Wrong Side of the Tracks.
Continuity[]
- The teddy bear at the beginning of the episode is identical to the one seen in Pitchin' Impossible.
Production Notes[]
- This is the last episode to use Macromedia Flash MX (which rendered the episodes in a stop-motion manner) before the animators switched to Toon Boom to fix the rendering of the episodes and create new character animation, backgrounds and visual effects. It is also the final episode to use the 8 FPS format as that was used throughout Season 1 and some episodes of Season 2.
- This episode marks Dana Belben's last time voicing Cub.
